9/23/2013 Kudos to the Nixa Fire Protection District, which recently donated a pair of surplus automated external defibrillators to the Chadwick and Billings fire protection districts. The AEDs were recently replaced in the Nixa Fire District and the surplus units were offered to other fire departments in Christian County.

8/09/2013 Two businesses in Billings, Craftsman Unlimited Custom Rustic Furniture and Gold Star Family Restaurant are hosting benefits this Saturday (August 10) for St. Jude Children’s Research Hostpital. The furniture store, as part of its grand opening will have food and raffle tickets for custom furniture, and the restaurant is hosting a benefit day with meal proceeds going to St. Jude’s.

7/12/2013 The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Nixa Parks and Recreation for the 9th annual Nixa Night at the Springfield Cardinals Tuesday, July 23. Tickets are on sale through Wednesday, July 17 at the Nixa Chamber office, 544 W. Mt. Vernon St.

4/12/3013 "Congratulations to Nixa High School on being one of eight high-achieving public schools that were named “Gold Star Schools” by Missouri education officials today. Nixa High School is one of eight high-achieving public schools that were named “Gold Star Schools” by Missouri education officials today.
The Gold Star Schools program is designed to identify schools that are performing at a high level academically or who are making exceptional progress while serving a significant proportion of disadvantaged students.
The Gold Star Schools program is the highest honor a school can receive from the State of Missouri education officials. Nixa’s Century Elementary and Espy Elementary have previously been named Gold Star Schools.
Nixa High School is also in the running to be named a “Blue Ribbon” school, which is the highest honor in the national a school can receive. It has been referred to as the “Oscar” of school awards before. Nixa’s Espy Elementary has also been named a Blue Ribbon school previously."
